The vision is clear, and the future is bright

Dr. Claude C. Lilly, PC’s 17th President (2012 – )

As we come to the day of the inauguration of PCs 17th president, the future continues to look bright for Presbyterian College. Just eight months into his presidency, Dr. Claude Lilly has a clear vision to move the college forward.

Lilly assumed the role of President of Presbyterian College on July 15, 2012, after serving as Dean of Clemson University’s College of Business and Behavioral Science since 2007. A Georgia native, Lilly earned his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and his doctorate from Georgia State University. He brings to the PC community extensive administrative and teaching experience, including posts at Texas Tech University, the University of Southern California, Florida State University, and as Dean of the Belk College of Business Administration at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

His passion for small, liberal arts colleges and his clear understanding of the “PC spirit” are evident in the vision he has outlined for the college’s future.

Since its founding, PC has provided an environment that prepares students for professional success in a number of disciplines.  The solid liberal arts education is at the core of their success and as such Dr. Lilly has identified six key areas for continued academic focus: biology/chemistry, business, education, pharmacy, history, and English.

Other areas of advancement under Lilly’s leadership will be in the physical facilities and beautification of the campus.  Over the next few years, much focus will be given to revitalizing some of PC’s signature facilities, both academic buildings and residential facilities. One of the first such buildings to be renovated and restored to its original beauty will be Neville Hall.

In addition to the refurbishment of facilities, a plan for campus beautification is already in progress.  PC’s campus is known for its beautiful old Georgian Revival architecture and grounds that include the signature West Plaza.  Over the next few years, small projects will be undertaken to revitalize the beauty of the campus.

With a strong vision and new leadership team in place, Lilly is committed to ensuring that PC’s excellent liberal arts education is available for generations to come.
