Christmas at PC set for Dec. 6-8

christmas card2PC will continue the tradition of offering Christmas music this year during its Christmas at PC production on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. All of the performances will be held in Belk Auditorium on the PC campus.

“How Sweet the Sound!,” the theme for the 2013 production, will feature performances by all of PC’s choirs, orchestra, bagpipes, handbells, organists and pianists.

“This effort by the Department of Music is much more to us than a performance of Christmas music,” said Dr. Porter Stokes, chair of the Music Department at PC.

“It is a service to the college and the Laurens County community and an expression of faith, commitment and belief that extends far beyond that of a normal performance,” Stokes said.

Christmas at PC, now in its 15th year, is hailed as one of South Carolina’s finest Christmas traditions and is a must-see for many in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. It is the signature program of the PC Music Department and is, annually, one of the largest events to take place on the PC campus.

“From its humble beginnings in 1999, the production has grown in scope and impact and now includes magnificent sets, dramatic lighting and audience participation,” Stokes said. “It is an experience that attendees rate equal or superior to any other Christmas production to be found in South Carolina’s and Georgia’s major cities.”

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at https://www.presby.edu/christmas. Tickets also are available at the Department of Music offices in Belk Auditorium. For more information, call 864.833.8470.
