PC students receive two of five possible scholarship awards

February 8, 2008

Kate Morgan and Brent Arant each won the South Carolina Young Bankers’ Scholarship, recently receiving their awards at the Young Bankers’ meeting in Columbia. The award is given annually to five college students statewide.

Morgan, a business management major from Edgefield, SC, is considering investment banking as a possible career choice.

"I consider it a great honor to be chosen for the award from among all the worthy candidates," she said.

Arant, an accounting major from Bowman, SC, is planning to become an estate lawyer after graduating from PC. He also holds the award in high esteem and credits his professors for his success.

"(Winning the scholarship) is a testament to the professors here at PC, and I'm glad I could represent the college in a positive light," Arant said. "It is truly a testament to how these award-winning professors prepare us. It's through scholarships like these that I am able to take advantage of a PC education, and I am honored that I was nominated and

chosen as a scholarship recipient."

This is the second straight year that two of the five possible scholarship recipients have been from PC. This is the fourth year in a row that at least one PC student has received the scholarship award. In all, eight PC students have received the scholarship award since 1999.
