Gillespie prepares for a return to his beloved classroom

Dr. J. David Gillespie, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty for the past seven years, has announced his intent to retire at the conclusion of the 2005-06 academic year — after one final semester in the classroom.

“I have reluctantly, but with a profound sense of gratitude for a job well done, accepted Dr. Gillespie’s request,” PC president John Griffith said. “Dr. Gillespie has asked to finish his tenure as a teacher of Presbyterian College students, his true love.  He will be granted a well-deserved sabbatical for the fall semester 2005 and will rejoin his colleagues in the political science department for the spring semester 2006.”
