Remote Connection to Library Subscription Databases:

Electronic resources at Presbyterian College are available from both
on- and off-campus locations to PC students, faculty, and staff.
When prompted for a user name and password,

enter your PC e-mail account "user name" and "password."

This information will authenticate you as a licensed user and allow remote access to all PC subscription databases.

Troubleshooting Tips

If you have difficulty connecting remotely:

  • Try accessing the database from a different link on the web site. You must access the databases through the Library web site, however.
  • Shut down your browser (i.e. Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and try again or use a different browser.
  • Sometimes files in your cache will prevent you from loading new pages.
    Try clearing the cache on your computer:

    Internet Explorer v6.0

    -Click on Tools
    -Select Internet Options
    -Select General tab
    -In the Temporary Internet Files section, click on the Delete Files
    button
    -Click OK

    Netscape v7.0

    -Click on the Edit menu
    -Select Preferences
    -Click on the arrow to the left of Advanced to expand the menu
    -Select Cache
    -Click on the Clear Memory Cache button
    -Click on Clear Disk Cache button
    -Click OK
    Mozilla Firefox

    -Click on the Tools menu
    -Select Options
    -Select Privacy
    -Click the Clear button next to Cache

  • Try again later - the subscription service may have a temporary problem.
  • Make sure you are logging in with your PC e-mail account user name (i.e. tinman)
    and password.
  • Some of our databases require pop-up windows to function properly. If you have
    a problem after connecting, try enabling pop-up windows on your computer:

    Internet Explorer

    -Click on Tools
    -Click Pop-up Blocker

    Netscape

    -Click on Tools
    -Click Popup Manager
    Mozilla Firefox

    -Click on Tools
    -Select Options
    -Select Web Features
    -Uncheck Block Popup Windows

Any trouble accessing these resources should be reported to the Reference Librarians at extension -7080 or by e-mail at tinman@presby.edu during the day or dlee@presby.edu during the evening hours.
