Prof. Nancy Ditto

Nancy Ditto is a native of Memphis, TN, where she was a member of the Memphis Symphony, Memphis Opera Orchestra, and concertmaster of Germantown Symphony. She has held the position of Associate Concertmaster of Saskatoon Symphony (Canada), and was a member of the Prairie Arts String Quartet, which recorded for BBC. Ditto has been a member of Toledo Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Composers Orchestra, and New York City Opera touring orchestra. She has recorded with a variety of artists including Phillip Glass, Isaac Hayes and Rod Stewart, and has worked with conductors such as Dennis Russel Davies, Maxim Shostakovich, Zubin Mehta, and Sixten Ehrling. Ditto received a B.M. from Memphis State University and an M.M. in violin performance from Brooklyn College Conservatory. In New York City, she worked as a freelancer, playing for Broadway shows, commercial recordings, Radio City, and various classical orchestra and chamber music groups.. Her major teachers include Ivan Galamian, David Cerone, Hyo Kang, and Masao Kawasaki. At the New York School for Strings, she studied Suzuki pedagogy with Louise Behrend. Ditto currently teaches violin and viola at Presbyterian College and freelances with Charlotte Symphony and other regional orchestras.
