P

PRE-VETERINARY MEDICINE PROGRAM

If you're interested in entering veterinary medicine, PC's pre-veterinary medicine program includes nearly all of the courses required for admission to veterinary school. A special advisor will be assigned to you who will help you arrange your courses at PC to fulfill the specific requirements of the veterinary school of the your choice.

Because there is no school of veterinary medicine in South Carolina, many students elect to continue their education at the University of Georgia or North Carolina State University. Through an agreement between South Carolina and Georgia, the University of Georgia reserves 17 positions in its beginning veterinary medicine class for South Carolina students. PC graduates fare well against this competition.

Each year PC has a strong group of students who are accepted into medical schools in South Carolina and Georgia.

The faculty advisor for Pre-Veterinary Medicine is:

Dr. Troy Nash

During the 2007-08 academic year, five PC students were accepted to dental school and five to pharmacy school, both records for the number of PC students accepted into the respective schools in one year.

Plus, seven more PC students have been accepted to graduate, nursing, optometry, physical therapy, physician's assistant, and veterinary programs.
