Mitchell Scholarship

The US-Ireland Alliance sponsors a competitive, national schoarship for graduate study by American citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 at institutions of higher learning in Ireland. Mitchell Scholars must exhibit superior records of academic excellence, leadership, and public service. Strong, demonstrated achievements in all three areas are required.

All Mitchell Scholars must study in a program offered by a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Usually, this will be a one-year Master's degree program, but other options may be considered if the applicant has the undergraduate background required for the proposed field of study. The scholarship, however, does not support research or independent study outside a regular program.

The Mitchell Scholarship provides tuition, housing, a $12,000 living expenses stipend, and international travel. Normally, twelve scholarships are awarded each year.

Application Deadline: Early October

This past semester I had the wonderful opportunity of studying in London with the Hansard Scholars Program. I took classes at The London School of Economics (LSE) and had the privilege of being an intern in Parliament.
