Army ROTC scholarships pay full tuition and required fees.

These scholarships are awarded on merit – based on academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and personal interviews.

Scholarship winners receive a stipend ($500) for each academic month plus an allowance of $600 per academic semester for books and other educational items.

Types:

Four Year Scholarship: Available to eligible high school students. The best time to start the application process the summer after your junior year!

Two & Three Year Scholarships: There are two-year and three-year Army ROTC scholarships available to eligible college students. The applications for these scholarships are available through the AROTC admissions officer.

Eligibility:

You must meet the following general eligibility requirements to receive an Army ROTC scholarship.

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be between the ages of 17 and 26
  • Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50 (2016 average for winners was 3.5+)
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Score a minimum of 920 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores)(2015 average for winners was 1250/28)

Meet physical standards

  • For Males: 42 pushups and 53 situps in 2 minutes with a 2 mile run in 15:50 is passing
  • For Females: 19 pushups and 53 situps in 2 minutes with a 2 mile run in 18:50 is passing

Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard)

Your Commitment

  • An eight-year service commitment with the Army.
  • Serve full-time in the Army for four years and four years with the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR).
  • Selected Cadets may choose to serve part-time in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while pursuing a civilian career

How to Apply:

  • Complete the SAT or ACT  (we recommend you take the test as soon as you have completed algebra and that you take the time to prepare for it.  A good place to prepare for the test.
  • Create an application at the Go Army website.
  • Let your guidance counselor know that you are applying for and Army ROTC Scholarship
  • Take the physical fitness test using the FM 7-22 – the test consists of three events, one minute of push-ups, one minute of crunches and a one-mile run.  A coach or Junior ROTC instructor at your high school can administer the test.

After you have completed your online application you will be told to schedule an interview.  You can choose the closest school or the school you most want to attend.  Do not try to schedule the interview before Cadet Command tells you to do so, the individual ROTC programs will not be able to see your application and will not be able to conduct the interview
