Students with a demonstrated record of academic excellence are eligible to pursue a departmental honors project in their junior or senior year.
This project involves a close collaboration between the student and a professor in selecting and developing a research topic that will be presented to the college community upon its completion.
Students who successfully complete their departmental honors research program will graduate “with honors” in their major field.
Here are some recent examples of departmental honors projects which have been completed in Political Science:
- Bolin, Amy. “The Student Life Experiences of African Americans at Predominantly White, Private Liberal Arts Colleges”
- Guy, Rachel. “Radical Rules: S. 1348 and the Shift to Unorthodox Congressional Procedures”
- Lloyd, Sarah. “Youth Voting Behavior: Presidential Primaries and General Elections, 1972-2008″
