We offer majors and minors in both Religion and Religion-Christian Education and a minor in philosophy.

We welcome students from all faith traditions. While some students in our department are preparing for church-related careers, the study of religion and philosophy provides the skills in reading, writing and critical thinking that are at the core of a well-rounded liberal arts education. Study in religion and philosophy provides excellent preparation for a variety of vocations in human services, business, law, medicine, education, and graduate school in the humanities.

“I especially value the time and attention that the professors at PC gave to me as a student. Not only did they know my name, but they had conversations with me, knew my passions and interests, and encouraged me in my academic and personal growth.

“In the Religion and Philosophy department, I encountered professors who were serious about their academic disciplines as an expression of their faith. In their courses, they challenged me to know and articulate the basis for what I believe, and they encouraged me to delve deeper into my own faith tradition as well as to learn to listen to opposing voices.”
