Official High School Transcripts
The Admissions Committee will review your academic development from 9th through 11th grade. We may also request the first semester grades of your senior year before making a decision. In most cases, Presbyterian College requires the completion of a four-year high school curriculum that includes the following courses:
• 4 units of English
• 4 units of math
• 3 or more units of history and/or social sciences
• 2 or more units of the same foreign language
• 2 or more units of laboratory science
(We encourage additional units in the last three categories.)
High School GPA
We will recalculate your high school GPA on a 4.0 scale based on performance in your core courses. In addition to your cumulative GPA, the Admissions Committee also looks for trends in your grades from year to year and from subject to subject.
Strength of Curriculum
We encourage you to take the most challenging curriculum that is appropriate for you. Completing honors, advanced placement, and international baccalaureate courses will prepare you for the rigors of the PC curriculum.
Standardized Test Scores
Presbyterian College recently introduced a new test-optional admissions policy. If you earn a minimum of a cumulative 3.25 high school GPA, you can decide whether or not to submit your standardized test scores.
If your high school GPA is below a 3.25, you must submit your official SAT and/or ACT scores directly from one of three sources:
- The testing agency
- Your official high school transcript(s)
- Your high school counselor
The high school GPA is based on PC’s recalculation of your core academic courses only. If the recalculation of your GPA falls below a 3.25, your Admissions Counselor will contact you.
Essay and Short Answers
You must submit all essay and short answer requirements from the application materials. This is an opportunity to differentiate yourself from other applicants—and the point when we evaluate your writing ability and get to know you a little better. Choose topics of great importance to you or ones that will demonstrate your passions. Tell us things about yourself that we won’t learn from the application. And be sure to add depth and details to your essay.

Demonstrate your Interest
Take advantage of the opportunity to meet your counselor during a visit to our campus, at a college fair, or during the counselor’s visit to your high school to help you determine if PC is the right college for you.
Presbyterian College provides a personalized admissions experience, and we want to get to know you during the process. The best way to accomplish this is to sit down with your admissions counselor. We are happy to schedule your interview during a campus visit to ensure you that have all of your questions answered. This is also a great opportunity for you to explain anything questionable in your admissions file.
Submit Your Resume
You can submit a resume highlighting your leadership positions, special talents, extra-curricular activities, community service, and work experience to show where your passions lie.
While recommendations aren’t necessary to complete your file, we suggest supplementing your application with them. A secondary school report with a counselor or teacher recommendation can provide much insight.
No Application Fee
Now that the majority of our applicants complete an online application, we have no need for an application fee. Simply complete your application with the required documents and any supplements, and we will have a decision to you by the published notification date.
