Hi, my name is Gail Hardaway, and I am the Associate Director of Admissions here at Presbyterian College. I graduated from PC with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. I loved PC so much I could not leave, so I decided to stay and join the Admissions team! I was a cheerleader for the Blue Hose here at PC so I have a great passion for this place that I now call home. I am honored and excited to be able to tell you about all that PC has to offer!
PC is a small yet very distinguished private liberal arts college. With a well-respected Honor Code and a strong dedication to service to others, we truly believe and commit to our Motto: While we live, we serve. Through our Student Volunteer Services, over 24 programs help our students serve the community. During my four years at PC I coached a little league soccer team for the YMCA just for fun and as a service to the Clinton community.
PC has a close-knit group of faculty, staff, and students that become your family during your four years here. You will find that not only are the professors here to teach you but they want to know you. It's indescribable, the feeling that you get when you see a professor cheering you on during a game, a recital, or a presentation because you know that they honestly and genuinely care about you.
There are over 50 student-run organizations on campus so if you are bored at PC you must be trying really hard to be because there is always something going on. Over the past year, we opened a brand new Biology building, renovated Springs Campus Center, and we are now in the process of opening our Pharmacy School in the fall of 2010. On top of all of this, we are now Division I-AA in the Big South Conference! Most PC students attend the sporting events as well as our President John Griffith. You will normally see him amidst all the fans with his PC bowtie on. A lot of the professors come to the games and bring their families too so it is a great chance to spend time with them outside of the classroom cheering on the Blue Hose!
One requirement for all students at some point during their four years here is that they do an intercultural experience or do an internship for college credit. Having this requirement creates a great opportunity to those students who want to travel and learn at the same time. The opportunities are endless when it comes to studying abroad-you can pretty much go anywhere you want. During my senior year, I decided to do an internship with the United Way in Laurens County and with the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. These internships and activities in which I participated have contributed in shaping the person that I am today.
Along with the many activities and requirements, it is the friendships and professor-to-student relationships that will last beyond the four years spent here at PC as a student. These relationships, I am sure, will last for a lifetime.
If you live in Tennessee and the following counties in South Carolina, I will be your counselor: Greenville, Sumter, Lee, Chesterfield, Darlington, Marlboro, Dillon, Marion, Florence, Williamsburg, and Clarendon. Although my travels will not bring me to you if you are from Kentucky, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, or Wisconsin, I’ll always be available for you to contact me with any questions you might have!
If you have never visited Presbyterian College, I encourage you to come to our campus and take a tour, visit with one of our professors, or even stay overnight so you can truly capture the essence of what PC is all about. I look forward to helping you in any way that I can! Good luck during your college search!
