Justine Schwindel

Hello! My name is Justine Schwindel, and I am an Assistant Director of Admissions here at Presbyterian College. I graduated in May 2008 with a degree in Business Administration, concentration in Management, and a minor in Media Studies. I am currently pursuing my MBA (Master in Business Administration) from Liberty University, a co-member in our Big South athletic conference. I loved spending my four undergraduate years at PC and was ecstatic to have the opportunity to come back and work in the admissions office for the place I call “home!”

Speaking of home, I might be making a visit to your high school or area college fair. If you live in the northern-half of Georgia or Horry and Georgetown counties in South Carolina, I will be your admissions counselor. Although I will not be traveling to Delaware, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania, I am still very excited to be your counselor as well.

PC is a top-ranked liberal arts college, meaning you can dabble in just about any type of coursework, so if you are coming in undecided about a major, no problem! This is the perfect place for you to get acquainted with different departments, professors, and become a well-rounded student. Also, a newly opened School of Pharmacy can become the ideal option for your graduate work as well.

When it comes to professors, PC employs the top of the line. We have had six South Carolina Professors of the Year, more than any other college in the state. Not only do they hold these awards, they are amazing people who will become your mentor, friend, and someone to talk to when you are having a tough day. They truly are interested in your well-being and will go out of their way to make sure your college experience can be all that it can.

Your college experience is definitely not just academics though, so here comes the fun stuff! I was involved in everything from the cheerleading squad for our Division I athletics program, holding offices in my sorority, President of a business club, student orientation leader, two internships, honor and leadership societies, playing intramurals, and several service projects. We have numerous student-run organizations that you can become a part of, so there really is something for everyone.

If just being involved on campus is not enough for you, studying abroad is another great option! You can go for a full semester or our Maymester option. I was a part of the Walt Disney World Maymester with the Business Department and the course was called “Managing the Magic,” learning the behind-the-scenes management techniques that have made Disney become one of the leading customer service corporations in the world. I also went to Guadalajara, Mexico for a course on “Globalization and Economic Development,” all the while being able to hang out on the beach after class; now, what college can beat that?

Getting back to PC, it really is a wonderful school that has values which will be taught and instilled in every student that comes through. Two major facets that have left a mark are our Honor Code and our school’s motto, “While we live, we serve.” There is a bond of trust between our faculty, staff, and students, and each individual takes their part within the community.

I hope I have given you a glimpse into the life of a PC student, but the best way to believe it for yourself is to come visit and apply for admission! I would love to meet you and coordinate a tour around campus with a Stirling Student Ambassador, one of the programs that I oversee here. It is a beautiful place so please come take a look! I look forward to helping you, and good luck with your college search!

Application Process
Here's where it all starts!
Early Decision Option

If you know PC is your first choice, take advantage of our Early Decision Option and complete your application file by November 1. You'll know our decision early. If you're admitted, you'll be able to relax and focus on other things, like finding scholarships and keeping up with your high school courses.

This option is a binding agreement. As an Early Decision student, you agree to enroll at PC and withdraw all applications for admission to other institutions if you're admitted to PC under the Early Decision plan. (If you're not admitted under the Early Decision plan, you will still be considered for regular admission to PC and may continue to apply elsewhere.)

Once you're accepted as an Early Decision student, you'll receive an estimated financial aid package by January 15. (For this reason, Early Decision is not recommended if you or your family want to compare financial aid options at multiple institutions before deciding which college you will attend.)

The deadline for submitting the non-refundable $400 registration deposit for Early Decision is January 15.

I'm a friend for life.

Relationships are very important part of your time at college. At PC you can expect close relationships in and out of the classroom. You'll also develop deep, meaningful relationships with other students because the atmosphere creates a sense of intimacy, whether it’s in classes, organizations or in your residence hall.
