If you're a South Carolina resident and your GPA has dropped below 3.0, summer coursework can be used to increase your GPA.
Please refer to the information below for instructions in predicting your life GPA based on future coursework. Additional information about this program is available from the South Carolina Commission of Higher Education.
To determine eligibility based on new course work, you will need to to know
the number of credit hours for the course and the number of quality points awarded
for the grade at the institution enrolled for that course. Total quality points for
each course is computed by multiplying the credit hours by quality points per
hour. Refer to table below. Remedial courses will NOT be included in Life GPA
calculations.
| Course Description |
Grade |
Quality Points |

Total Quality Points |
| Western Civ |

| Art Appreciation |
B |

The GPA is calculated by dividing the total quality points by the total
number of credit hours. This is your GPA for new coursework.
| Totals |
Quality Points: 21 |
Hrs: 6.0 |
GPA: 3.5 |
Your new Life GPA will be determined by adding the total credit hours and quality
points of new/future coursework
to the existing Life GPA credit hours and quality points displayed in the Financial Aid area of BannerWeb.
For Example: SC Life totals: 120.9 quality points and 42 hours.

To calculate GPA: Total Quality Points ÷ Total Hours
141.9 ÷ 48 = 2.956
GPA including new coursework: 2.956
Please note the Life GPA is truncated, not rounded. A 2.956 will NOT
round to a 3.0.
