Angie Miller

"Safety was one of my major concerns as Zach traveled four hours away from home for an undergraduate education. I have been very satisfied with the safety and environment as he studied this year. If I did not already have a permanent home, I would love to make Clinton and its surrounding area a place of residence. I feel comfortable when I visit him during the school year because the community seems so connected and caring for each other."

-Angie Miller, Nichols, SC (son-Zach Williams '09)

Health Care

Entering students are required to submit a health certificate, including a report of recent medical examinations and a record of immunizations. The college provides an on-campus health center to assist students with health care issues. The Student Health Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am- 12:00pm and 1:30 pm-4:30 pm. A Nurse Practitioner is available for appointment Monday through Friday. All medical expenses associated with office visits to referred physicians or the on-campus Nurse Practitioner, as well as other related costs, are to be paid by the student’s insurance carrier.

In the event a student requires medical attention when the Health Center isa not open, she/he should seek medical assistance at the Laurens County Hospital . In the event of an emergency, the student should contact PC Public Safety or 911. Residential students may seek assistance from their Resident Assistant and/or the Area Coordinator.

Counseling Services

In the course of normal college experiences, many students require assistance meeting their objectives as they make the transition from one phase of life to another and adjust to the demands of college life. Wile some students are affected by personal crises, other students may be particularly subject to stress or suffer clinically due to various internal and external mechanisms. The intent of counseling services at Presbyterian College is to meet such needs through a brief treatment model involving up to six sessions of individual psychotherapy for students at a given time. Under more severe clinical circumstances, students are often referred to community providers and/or long-term care facilities for intensive treatment.

Individual intake appointments can be scheduled by contacting the Director of Counseling Services in the Student Health Center. Residence life staff, faculty, or administrators may make referrals; however, a student may of his/her own volition call to make an appointment. Counseling services offered at the health center are provided without charge to full-time PC students. Off-campus referrals, acute emergencies, or long term therapy would be the financial responsibility of the student or his/her family.

Counseling for chemical abuse or dependency is available through the Gateway Counseling Center. This center provides round-the-clock care for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
