Denera James

Although she hasn't decided on a major yet, freshman Denera James has been on campus long enough to see that her professors are truly invested in her success. "My professors want my peers and me to do well," she said. "I see it in how they approach each lesson. And when they believe in me, it gives me that extra push that I need when I feel like I am overwhelmed. They provide a community in which success is highly possible."

Denera is involved in the wind ensemble and is considering majoring in music. She also participates in the Theater for Social Change, Multicultural Student Union, and intramural sports.
