Message from Jessica Blount, Development Associate

A big Blue Hose thank you goes to all who attended and helped make An Evening in Augusta on Thursday, March 8th a great success.  Over seventy-five guests gathered at The Augusta Country Club for a lovely affair.

PC family joined on the early spring evening beside a sunlit veranda and piano serenade to enjoy lovely hors d'oeuvres and beverages and hear a message from special guests Executive Vice President for External Relations Bob Staton '68 and Executive Director of Athletics Bee Carlton '76 about exciting campus news.

The formal program included words from a variety of PC faces.  David Atchley, new Vice President of Advancement, welcomed hosts Don McNeill '66, Becky and Jeff Reynolds '79, Nina and Larry Yonce '67.  David thanked Board of Trustee members Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Howington and Dr. and Mrs. Dan McCall for their help in promoting the event.  Host Mr. Jeff Reynolds gave the invocation and introduced Mr. Bob Staton.

Staton's message focused on our responsibilities PC family and friends to extend educational opportunities to the next generation PC.  He described the many successes of PC graduates, remarkable building progress, and tasks still to come for facilities, people, and programs.  Staton's inspiring words left all gathered with a challenge and a vision for the future.

As the Blue Hose look ahead, Dr. Bee Carlton shows that PC is ready for the Division I move.  In his address, Carlton shared the importance of supporting new head football coach Bobby Bentley '90 and the exciting schedule in all athletics at PC.

The speaking program ended with Jeff Reynolds' stirring remarks.  He reminded us that our education is a gift that enables us to serve others.  Reynolds encouraged everyone to recruit new students for PC, participate in the PC fund, be visible at PC events, and help with the science building, scholarships, and faculty compensation.

As guests mingled, graduates of yesterday and today met with faculty and staff, current students, and friends of PC.  Thank you to all who worked hard to create such a beautiful occasion including current students Tripp Rush '09, Justine Schwindel '08, Edward Puckett '07, and all of the PC faculty and staff involved.  Thank you for giving your time and energies to make this night a great success!
