AS KEY NOTE SPEAKER FOR TEAM’S ANNUAL BANQUET
Butler to speak at annual baseball banquet on October 22nd

CLINTON, SC — Former major league baseball player Brett Butler will be the key note speaker at Presbyterian College baseball program’s annual banquet announced today by program officials.

Butler, who gained fame for his 16-year professional baseball career and his battle with cancer, will speak at Presbyterian College baseball program’s annual banquet held on Sunday, October 22nd at 7:00 pm at The Darlington House in Clinton, SC.

Butler, who started his professional career at the now defunct Greenwood Braves, worked through the minor leagues before gaining fame playing in the major leagues while playing for the Cleveland Indians, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, and New York Mets.

Butler was diagnosed with cancer, which cut short his professional career, and he wrote an autobiography of his ordeals titled ”Field of Hope.” During his career, Butler was awarded several honors including the Lou Gehrig Award given annually to the Major League Baseball Player who exemplifies the giving character of Hall of Famer, Lou Gehrig.
