LENOIR-RHYNE WINS FIRST-EVER REGULAR SEASON BASEBALL TITLE; PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED FOR FOOD LION SAC BASEBALL TOURNAMENT
PC seeded #3 in upcoming SAC Tournament

ROCK HILL, SC The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, the defending Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament champions, won their first-ever regular-season title winning two out of three games from Wingate this past weekend.

The Bears, under coach Frank Pait, went 15-5 in conference play during the regular season.

Lenoir-Rhyne was a surprise winner in last year’s conference tournament after finishing sixth in the conference. But the Bears got hot in the postseason and captured their first-ever tournament championship.

Pairings were also finalized for the first round of the Food Lion SAC Baseball Tournament. The double-elimination tournament will begin Thursday, April 19 at Newberry College.

The pairings are as follows: No. 4 Catawba vs. No. 5 Tusculum, 9 a.m.; No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne vs. No. 8 Newberry, 12:45 p.m.; No. 3 Presbyterian vs. No. 6 Carson-Newman, 4:30 p.m.; No. 2 Wingate vs. No. 7 Mars Hill, 8:15 p.m.
