PC’S WARREN NAMED TO ABCA
2001 ALL-SOUTH REGION BASEBALL TEAM
Lexington, SC native lands on second team

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College baseball player Matt Warren has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association’s 2001 All-South Region baseball team announced recently.

Warren, a 6-2, 222-pound redshirt sophomore first baseman was named to the second team all-region after hitting .402 with 14 homeruns and 60 RBI’s this past season. Warren led the Blue Hose in all three categories and ranked fifth in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) in batting average and RBI’s while finishing sixth in homeruns.

The native of Lexington, SC was one of 11 players from the SAC to be named to either the first or second team. In addition, Warren was named to the first team All-SAC this season.

Warren shattered the program’s single-season slugging percentage with a .734 average this past season. He also ranked in several other Blue Hose single-season categories including second in batting average, tied for second in homeruns, and fourth in RBI’s.

The Blue Hose are coming off their fifth consecutive 30-win season, a program record, as the team posted a 30-29 mark this past spring. PC finished the SAC regular season with a 12-8 mark, good for a third place finish.
