Gutsy, solid second baseman who is the most versatile player on the squad ... capable of playing all positions on the field ... will start at second base this season ... have to see him play everyday to appreciate his baseball skills ... played well in 20 games as a freshman - especially on defense - where he did not commit an error in 18 chances ... followed up with a solid sophomore campaign which saw him hit .316 through 26 games, steal 6-8 bases, and field at a .939 clip before going down with injury midway through the season ... played at Riverside High School ... son of Voit and Patsy Hurst ... undecided upon a major.

Perhaps the most improved player returning in the sophomore class ... will compete for starting slot at shortstop with Brian Grimm ... played in Dallas, TX in the Southwestern Collegiate Baseball League this past summer and traveled to Germany with USA Baseball International ...fielding and arm strength improvements will key playing time this season ... Right-handed pitcher who was an All-Star in Dallas, TX this past summer ... improved speed of fastball and cleaned up mechanics in the process ... has added a cut fastball to give himself four quality pitches ... can dominate a game — as evidenced by carrying a no-hitter into the ninth inning of his first collegiate start versus North Greenville last year ... command of all four pitches will determine his role this spring ... slated as a mid-week starter and will pitch in relief as needed ... All-Area selection at Americus High School ...  son of Ken and Dorothy Hitzeman ... undecided upon a major.
