Will start the season as the backup catcher ... versatile player who saw time at shortstop this past summer for the Greenwood Legion team ... could see time in outfield or second base ... good runner with great speed for a catcher ... soft hands, receives well. blocks well, and hits the bag at second base nearly all of his throws ... saw action in 12 games in 2000 with three starts and posted a perfect 1.000% fielding percentage ... four-year letterwinner at Abbeville High School ... son of Rusty and Sharon New  ... undecided upon a major.

First freshman under Coach Kovash to earn All-SAC (2nd team) honors ... provided a big spark off the bench hitting .337 in 36 games with a .458 on-base percentage ... has a good “live” fastball, two good breaking pitches and a solid change-up ... will be counted on to pitch quite a bit this season in relief ... will open the season splitting time at first base with Matt Warren ... top candidate at DH ...  four-year letterwinner at McIntosh High School ... son of Jack and Toni Prahl  ... undecided upon a major.
