Burns was named the SAC Pitcher of the Week for the
third consecutive time, and Mars Hill Colleges Nick
Philemon was selected as the SAC Position Player of the
Week, conference officials announced today.
Philemon,
a 6-0, 170-pound junior shortstop from Greensboro, NC
(Ragsdale HS) led the Lions to a 3-1 record last week.
He hit .529 with two doubles, two RBI, and a triple.
He obtained a .556 on-base percentage and committed
only one error in 16 chances at shortstop.
Philemon capped off the week going a perfect 4-for-4
against Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.
Philemon is leading the team in hitting with a .424
batting average. This
was the first time Philemon has won the award. The
SAC Baseball Players of the Week are determined by a vote
