SAC Baseball Players of the Week Announced
Presbyterian's Michael Burns and Lenoir-Rhyne's 
Chip Bradford Take Honors

ROCK HILL, SC - Michael Burns of Presbyterian College was named the SAC Pitcher of the Week and Chip Bradford from Lenoir-Rhyne College was selected as the SAC Position Player of the Week, conference officials announced today.

Burns, a 6-0, 170-pound senior left-handed pitcher from Simpsonville, SC (Hillcrest HS) obtained two complete game wins last week with victories over St. Leo University (4-0) and Brevard College (6-2).  Against St. Leo, Burns allowed eight hits, no runs and struck out three to cruise to the 4-0 shutout.  Against Brevard, Burns scattered just six hits over nine innings allowing only a single earned run while striking out four batters.  So far this season, Burns has an earned run average of just 0.50 in 18 innings pitched.  Burns has also only allowed one extra base hit during his time on the mound this season.

Bradford, a 6-2, 215-pound junior outfielder from Hickory, NC (St. Stephens HS) led the Bears to a 4-0 record last week with wins over Pfeiffer University (8-5), Barton College (8-3), Limestone College (3-2), and St. Leo University (6-3).  Bradford hit .500 on the week going 6-for-12 at the plate with five runs scored and two RBI.  Bradford's best numbers were against Barton where he was 3-for-4 with and RBI and a run scored.  He closed out the week with two hits in four at-bats against St. Leo.
