PATRIOTS HOLD ON FOR A 3-2 WIN OVER BLUE HOSE 
IN BASEBALL ACTION
Allen hits game-winning RBI single in the 
sixth inning for Francis Marion

CLINTON, SC — Francis Marion’s senior centerfielder Josh Allen (Wake Forest, NC) hit a RBI single to give Francis Marion a 3-1 lead and go on to win 3-2 on the road over Presbyterian College in baseball action Tuesday afternoon.

The Patriots took a early 1-0 lead thanks in part to Allen who his a solo homerun in the top of the second to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead. The Blue Hose tied the game in the bottom of the inning when junior first baseman Matt Warren (Lexington, SC) came across home plate off a Patriot error which scored him from second base.

The game stayed tied until the sixth inning when freshman outfielder Rorace Reeves (Irmo, SC) hit a RBI double scoring teammate sophomore third baseman Jerry Honeycutt (Fort Mill, SC). Allen followed with a RBI single which scored Reeves to give the Patriots a 3-2 lead.

The Patriots were led by Reeves and Allen who each went two-for-four at the plate while sophomore pitcher Bubba Strickland (Florence, SC) picked up the win after going five solid innings allowing two runs, one earned on four hits. Relief pitcher senior Sam Greco (East Greenbush, NY) picked up the save after going four innings allowing only two hits.

The Blue Hose were led by junior outfielder Keagan Broussard (Virginia Beach, VA) went two-for-four while Warren went two-for-three at the plate. Starting pitcher sophomore Kurt Hitzeman (Americus, GA) dropped his record to 1-2 on the season after going six and one-third innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits. Relief pitcher sophomore Richard Barkley (Sumter, SC) had a solid outing going two and two-thirds innings allowing only one hit.

Francis Marion improves to 3-3 on the season while Presbyterian falls to 5-5 on the season.
