BLUE HOSE BASEBALL WINS A WILD ONE AGAINST KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE 12-11
PC’s Grimm was a perfect five-for-five including the game-winning RBI

CLINTON, SC -- The Presbyterian College baseball team pulled out a wild win verse the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan College 12-11.  Sophomore shortstop Brian Grimm (Spartanburg, SC) led the Blue Hose with five hits on the day including the game-winning RBI on a single past the first baseman to score two Blue Hose base runners in the bottom of the eight inning to give PC the led for good.

Kentucky Wesleyan came out ready to play after scoring five runs in the first two inning and knocking Presbyterian College starting pitcher Bryan Betsill (Enoree, SC) on their way to a 5-2 lead. 

PC answered back in the fourth inning as they put together a four run inning highlighted by sophomore catcher Dusty New’s (Abbeville, SC) RBI single to give the Blue Hose a 6-5 lead. 

The Panther went back on top in the seventh inning as Thomas Melton’s (Graham, KY) single RBI tied the game and Adam Hancock’s (Owensboro, KY) double gave Kentucky Wesleyan a 7-6 lead.  But the Blue Hose would answer back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 7-7 on first baseman Davis Rice’s (Clinton, SC) single up the middle to score freshman right fielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) that hit of the Panther starting pitcher Rick Wood (Cincinnati, OH) and knocked him out of the game.

The eighth inning saw Kentucky Wesleyan get four runs to go up 11-7, but the Blue Hose answered right back with five runs of their own highlighted by five singles and one costly error by the Panther second baseman on Rice’s routine pop fly between first and second that was dropped allowing Grimm to get a single past the first baseman to score pinch runner Jacyn Thompson (Honea Path, SC) and Rice which reached on the error.

The Panther’s were led by senior third baseman Bryce Burger (Fort Branch, IN), first baseman Scott Agnew (Noblesville, IN), Hancock, and freshman centerfielder Josh Milam (Louisville, KY) each who had two hits in the game.  Picking up the loss was junior Aaron Biddle (Burlington, KY) who pitched one and two-third inning in relief.

For the Blue Hose, they sent six pitchers to the mound including sophomore Richard Barkley (Sumter, SC) who pitched two-thirds of an inning and getting the win while only facing four batter and giving up two runs on two hits.  Rice moved to the mound in the ninth to shut down the Panther and pick up his first save of his career.  At the plate, PC was led by Grimm, designated hitter Heath McCutcheon (Newberry, SC), and Rice who both went three-for-five with two RBI’s.  Also contributing was New and left fielder Keagan Broussard (Virginia Beach, VA) each going two-for-four with an RBI.
