PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BASEBALL SWEEPS LIMESTONE
PC’s Burns and Warren lead the way in the first game

CLINTON, SC - The Blue Hose pulled off a sweep of the Saints of Limestone College today at the Baseball Complex winning 5-0 in the first game and 11-2 in the second game.  Senior starting pitcher Michael Burns  (Simpsonville, SC) goes the distance for a complete game shutout striking out eleven Saints and giving up only four hits.

PC got an early start after sophomore designated hitter Matt Warren (Lexington, SC) hit a grand slam in the bottom of the first to give the Blue Hose a 4-0 advantage and go on to win 5-0.  The Blue Hose were led at the plate by junior outfielder Chris Turco (Marietta, GA) who went two-for-five with a stolen base.  Teammate junior outfielder Keagan Broussard (Virginia Beach, VA) went two-for-three with an RBI and a walk in the win while Burns got his fourth win in as many starts to improve his record to 4-0 and only giving up one earned run in thirty-four innings pitched.

In the second game the starting pitcher Kevin Felts (Winston-Salem, NC) went five strong innings giving up one run on four hits and striking out ten.  Felts improved his record to 2-0 on the 2001 season.   At the plate, the Blue Hose were led by Turco who went three-for-four including a double, with two runs scored an RBI and two-for-two on stolen bases.  Joining Turco was freshman outfielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) who went two-for-two with two runs scored and one RBI.  Furthermore, junior second baseman Brad Hurst (Greer, SC) had a double, one RBI, and a stolen base on two-for-two at the plate.

The Blue Hose return to action tomorrow at the Baseball Complex to play host to Milligan College at 1:00 pm.
