PC FALLS TO SOUTHERN WESLEYAN 10-7 IN  BASEBALL ACTION
Syfert led the Warriors with three hits and 2 RBI

CLINTON, SC -- Southern Wesleyan senior designated hitter Luke Syfert (Dawsonville, GA) went three-for-five with two singles, a double and two RBI’s to help led the Warriors past the Blue Hose today in college baseball action at the Presbyterian College Baseball Complex.   

In the first inning the Warriors scored one run on and single by Syfert.  In the bottom of the inning PC answered back with two runs of their own on a pair of RBI singles by freshman Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) and sophomore first baseman Matt Warren (Lexington, SC).  The Blue Hose would added another run in the second inning on an RBI single by senior catcher Geno Gosnell (Easley, SC).  Southern Wesleyan picked up a single run in the third on a single by Syfert and two runs in the fourth highlighted by an RBI triple by sophomore shortstop Jason Frazier (Rogersville, TN) down the right field line; Frazier later scored on a wild pitch. 

PC answered back again in the fifth inning with three runs on four hits on two Warrior errors to take the lead 6-4. 

In the eight innings Southern Wesleyan erupted for six runs on five hits, on three Blue Hose errors to give the Warriors a 10-6 lead.  PC once again answered back with a run in the bottom of the eight to get to within three runs of the Warriors.  The Blue Hose threaten in the ninth with two outs and runners on first and second and a chance tie the game but freshman Ryan Westmoreland (Clover, SC) stuckout pinch hitter Dusty New (Abbeville, SC) to end the game. 

Leading the way for the Warriors at the plate was Syfert, and senior first baseman Brian Jewell (Greenville, SC) who went two-for-four in the game.  For the Blue Hose, junior centerfielder Chris Turco (Marietta, GA) and Warren led the way by going three-for-five and Warren picking up RBI’s sixteen and seventeen on the season.  Also, with a pair of hits were Keagan Broussard (Virginia Beach, VA), White, Tombo Hite (Abbeville, SC), Davis Rice (Clinton, SC) and Gosnell. 

Picking up the win for the Warriors was sophomore Jason Moore (Easley, SC) who came on to pitch in the sixth inning.  The save goes to Westmoreland (2) who threw one and two-thirds innings striking out two and giving up only one hit.  For PC, sophomore Richard Barkley (Sumter, SC) gets the loss in one-third of an inning pitched.  Starting pitcher Brian Prahl (Peachtree City, GA) went four complete innings giving up four runs on four hits and striking out two batters.  Senior pitcher Brain Betsill (Cross Anchor, SC) and freshman Jonathan Vega (Irmo, SC) pitched well in relief.
