COLE SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE BASEBALL

CLINTON, S.C. — Robert Cole has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Presbyterian College, announced today by ninth-year head coach Doug Kovash.

Cole, a 6-0, 170-pound left-handed pitcher, is a native of Savannah, Ga. where he plays for Savannah Christian Preparatory School and head coach Carl Carter. Cole helped lead his team to the State AAA Final Four each of the last two seasons. As a junior, he posted a 1.90 ERA with a 9-1 record to go with 113 strikeouts in 77.3 innings. He won Best Pitcher award on his team and was selected to the All-Coastal Empire second team.

This past season, he compiled a 9-1 mark on the mound with a 2.12 ERA to go along with 74 strikeouts in 62.2 innings. For his high school career, Cole has a 26-3 mark on the mound. He also is a two-year letterwinner in football at quarterback and two-year letterwinner in basketball while playing point guard.

“He’s a control pitcher with good velocity and has the ability to throw three pitches for strikes,” said Kovash. “Robert is a proven winner at Savannah Christian that has great confidence on the field.  He should make an immediate impact for us his freshman year. We look for great things from him.”

During the summer he plays for the Savannah Chain Baseball team and head coach Shannon Snider. The summer prior to his junior year  of high school, Cole won the Best Pitcher Award after going 11-0 on the mound with a 1.76 ERA. Prior to his senior year, he posted a 5-3 mark on the mound and a 3.60 ERA while leading his team to the USSA World Series title in Winter Park, Florida.

Cole joins Ryan Ariail, Bryan Cromer, Remington Ross, and Evan Sowell who signed with the Blue Hose in April.
