Blue Hose baseball standout picked as one of the top athletes from Decatur, GA

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College baseball player, Philip Hauserman, has been named one of the City Schools of Decatur’s Distinguished Athletes of the 20th Century announced earlier this fall.

Hauserman, a 6-0, 185-pound outfielder from Decatur, GA, was among seven athletes selected to this special honor for the 2000-01 year.

The award recognizes distinguished athletes of the past century who represented Decatur City Schools for their outstanding contributions of effort, courage, heart, dedication, and determination in support of City Schools of Decatur and its athletic programs. A committee made up of former coaches, teachers, and alumni nominates and selects the award winners for this prestigious award.

Hauserman was a four-year starter for Decatur High School’s baseball team and posted a career batting average of .453. He was named to the All-Dekalb County team all four years in baseball and in the pool, was a two-time state swimming qualifier for the 50-yard freestyle and 4X100 relay.

Last spring, Hauserman played in five games for the Blue Hose and posted a .500 batting average and .667 on-base percentage as Presbyterian went 30-29 overall and finished third in the South Atlantic Conference regular season.
