HOFFNER SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE BASEBALL
CLINTON,
S.C. — Nick Hoffner
has signed to play baseball at Presbyterian College, announced
today by 10th-year head coach Doug
Kovash.
Hoffner,
a 6-1, 180-pound outfielder, is a native of Elliott City,
Maryland where he played for Mt. Hebron High School and head
coach Matt Forsyth. During his high school career he was named Baltimore
second team All-Metro, Washington Post Honorable Mention
All-Metro, and 1st team All-County by the Washington Post,
Baltimore Sun, and Howard County Times.
This
past season, he hit .429 with eight homeruns, 26 RBI and 24
runs scored in 70 at-bats. As a junior, Hoffner hit .474 with
five homeruns and 21 RBI.
“Nick
has good speed, plays a solid defense with a good arm, and has
the ability to hit for average and power,” said Kovash.
“He hit over .451 in his high school career with 13
home runs. We
expect him to compete for the centerfield or leftfield
position right away.”
This
summer he is playing for the 18 and under Columbia Reds and
head coach Larry
Thompson. Last summer he played for the 18 and under
Yankee Rebels and head coach Jay Jennings.
Hoffner
joins Ryan Ariail, Robert
Cole, Bryan Cromer, Remington Ross,
and Evan Sowell who
signed with the Blue Hose earlier this year.
