HOFFNER SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE BASEBALL

CLINTON, S.C. — Nick Hoffner has signed to play baseball at Presbyterian College, announced today by 10th-year head coach Doug Kovash.

Hoffner, a 6-1, 180-pound outfielder, is a native of Elliott City, Maryland where he played for Mt. Hebron High School and head coach Matt Forsyth. During his high school career he was named Baltimore second team All-Metro, Washington Post Honorable Mention All-Metro, and 1st team All-County by the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and Howard County Times.

This past season, he hit .429 with eight homeruns, 26 RBI and 24 runs scored in 70 at-bats. As a junior, Hoffner hit .474 with five homeruns and 21 RBI.

“Nick has good speed, plays a solid defense with a good arm, and has the ability to hit for average and power,” said Kovash.  “He hit over .451 in his high school career with 13 home runs.  We expect him to compete for the centerfield or leftfield position right away.”

This summer he is playing for the 18 and under Columbia Reds and head coach Larry Thompson. Last summer he played for the 18 and under Yankee Rebels and head coach Jay Jennings.

Hoffner joins Ryan Ariail, Robert Cole, Bryan Cromer, Remington Ross, and Evan Sowell who signed with the Blue Hose earlier this year.
