THREE BLUE HOSE BASEBALL PLAYERS RECEIVE PRE-SEASON HONORS FROM COLLEGIATE BASEBALL
Matt Warren named pre-season All-American

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Presbyterian College’s junior first baseman Matt Warren (Lexington, SC) has been selected as an NCAA Division II Pre-Season All-American chosen by the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Division II All-American Committee announced this week in Collegiate Baseball.   

The All-American team was chosen from returning players from last year’s All-American teams and All Region squads.  Warren a 6-2, 222 pound first baseman led the team with a .402 batting average, 14 HR, and 60 RBI to go with 14 2B and was an All-Region selection.  

Senior outfielder Chris Turco (Marietta, GA) was selected as a Player to Watch and freshman pitcher Matt Boone (Kernersville, NC) was named as a Newcomer to Watch in 2002.

Turco, a 5-8, 175 pound centerfielder returns after earning All-SAC and SAC Tournament honors in 2001.  He had a .363 batting average, 2 HR, and 34 RBI to go along with a team best 82 hits, 18 2B, 4 3B, and 23 stolen bases for the Blue Hose last year.

Freshman Pitcher 
Matt Boone

Boone, a 6-2, 180 pound right-handed pitcher comes to Presbyterian College from Glenn High School in Kernersville, NC.  Boone is a hard throwing, well built, pitcher who will see some time this spring.  He finished the fall with a great outing in the Blue/Gray World Series.  He has been clocked at 90 mph.  He is a hard worker with tremendous upside.
