Monday, April 15, 2002 SAC Baseball Players of the Week
Announced Catawba and Presbyterian Claim Awards ROCK HILL, SC Catawba Colleges Zach Snyder was named the SAC Pitcher of the Week and Presbyterian Colleges Kevin White was selected as the SAC Position Player of the Week, conference officials announced today. This is the second time these players have won the award.
White is just two homeruns shy of tying the program record for homeruns (17) set by Blue Hose All-American Gene Gobble in 1998. Snyder, a 6-7, 215-pound sophomore pitcher from Lexington, NC (West Davidson HS) tossed a complete game shutout to give Catawba its lone league win of the week in raising his record to 7-2. The Tribe has four shutouts in games he has pitched, but it was his first complete game shutout. He allowed only one runner to reach third base and has not allowed an earned run in his last three starts and has a streak of 25 consecutive scoreless innings against SAC teams since allowing two unearned runs in the first inning against Presbyterian. Snyders ERA in league games is 1.26 and overall stands at 1.77. The conference's eight-member institution's sports information directors select the 2002 SAC Baseball Player's of the Week. 2002 SEASON
