Georgia College Wins Season Opener 12-4
over Presbyterian College

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Will Martin went 4-4 with a two-run home run and 5 RBI to lead the #16 ranked Georgia College & State University baseball team to a 12-4 season opening victory over Presbyterian College Friday night at the Peach Belt Challenge hosted by the University of North Florida.

GC&SU (1-0) got behind early when Presbyterian's (0-1) Davis Rice belted a two run home run in the first inning to give the Blue Hose a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats would rally however, and finally broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh on Martin's run scoring single to drive in Eddie Campbell. Martin would later score on Alex Stathos' single to center field. The Bobcats blew the game open with seven runs in the eighth inning, which was highlighted by back-to-back homers by Martin and Stathos.

Stathos finished the game 2-3 with 3 RBI, while Jason Samples went 3-4 with one RBI and 2 runs scored. David Walczak also had a good day at the plate for the Bobcats after going 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Will Anderson (1-0) picked up the win in relief for GC&SU after allowing one run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts in five complete innings of work.
