PATRIOTS SLIP PAST BLUE HOSE 6-3 IN BASEBALL ACTION

CLINTON, SC — Francis Marion University junior pitcher Bubba Strickland (Florence, SC) pitched a complete game to lead the PATRIOTS to a 6-3 win over Presbyterian College at the PC Baseball Complex Tuesday afternoon.

Strickland went the distance allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out six Blue Hose batters in the victory.

The Blue Hose got off to a fast start, taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run homerun by sophomore outfielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC).

Francis Marion cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fourth on an RBI-single by senior shortstop John Cutter (Manning, SC). The Patriots took their first lead of the game in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice RBI by junior third baseman Keith Frye (Galivants Ferry, SC).

The Patriots took a commanding 6-2 lead in the top of the seventh by scoring three runs highlighted by a pair of RBI-singles by senior second baseman Mark Ford (Charlotte, NC) and sophomore right fielder Hoarce Reeves (Irmo, SC).

PC picked up one run in the bottom of the ninth in a solo homerun by redshirt junior Kenny Campbell (Roswell, GA).

Francis Marion was led at the plate by Ford who went two-for-five with an RBI while Reeves went three-for-four.

PC was led at  the plate by White who went two-for-three with two RBI’s. Freshman Jake Lunnen (Sylva, NC) took the loss to drop to 1-2 on the season after going six innings allowing four runs, two earned on seven hits. 

The Blue Hose drop to 7-10 overall while Francis Marion improves to 5-12.
