SAC BASEBALL RESULTS PRESBYTERIAN WINS SERIES WITH 8-6 VICTORY IN GAME THREEMARS HILL, NC - Presbyterian College defeated Mars Hill College today at Henderson Field by a score of 8-6 to win two of the three-game series against the Lions. The Lions fell to 20-21 overall and 8-9 in league play. PC is now 21-25 overall and 9-9 in the SAC. Presbyterian jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first and second inning to lead 4-0. The Blue Hose added a run in the bottom of the fifth after Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) homered to extend their lead to 5-0. Mars Hill finally scored runs in the sixth inning. The Lions cut the lead to 5-4 in the inning on five hits and one PC error. The Blue Hose answered the comeback with a pair of homeruns in the seventh inning to take an 8-4 advantage. Tombo Hite (Abbeville, SC) hit a solo shot and Davis Rice (Clinton, SC) hit a two-run homerun. Mars Hill made a run at the Blue Hose in the ninth, scoring two runs before PC got the third out. Mars Hill out hit PC 11-to-10 in the contest and left six runners on base. Hite went 3-for-4 with four RBI, a homerun, and two runs scored. White was also 3-for-4 with a homerun, two RBI, and a pair of runs scored. Rice had two hits and two RBI for the Blue Hose. Kurt Hitzeman (Americus, GA) picked up the win (4-3) throwing six innings. Charles Assey (Cayce, SC) got the save (2). Four players recorded two hits in the loss for the Lions. Juston Mahon (Ft. Myers, FL) led the team in RBI with three. Jim Miller took the loss on the mound for Mars Hill. He threw 6.2 innings. |
