February 10, 2002 BLUE HOSE BASEBALL COMPLETES THE SWEEP OF MILLIGAN COLLEGE TODAY AS THEY WIN 12-4 CLINTON,
SC The Presbyterian College baseball team won its
third game in a row by completing the sweep of Milligan
College today 12-4. The
Blue Hose improve to 3-4 on the season while the Buffaloes
fall to 0-3. Presbyterian
came ready to play as they put up a four spot in the first
inning highlighted by junior second baseman Tombo
Hites (Abbeville, SC) two out bases clearing double
to right centerfielder that scored teammates Davis
Rice (Clinton, SC), Matt
Warren (Lexington, SC), and Kevin
White (Spartanburg, SC).
Senior left fielder James
Gritter (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) later added an RBI single
up the middle to score Hite and give the Blue Hose a 4-0 lead. The
third inning was much like the first inning as Warren led off
the inning with a double off the centerfield fence.
Gritter walked and both would score on junior catcher Kenny
Campbells (Roswell, GA) double off the leftfield
fence as PC extended its lead to 6-0. Presbyterian
took a 9-0 lead into the seventh inning when Milligans bats
came alive as they scored three runs highlighted by senior
right fielder Chris Archers (Knoxville, TN) double
to centerfield that scored teammates Chuck Arnold (Bristol,
TN) and Scott Shealy (Erwin, TN).
The Blue Hose would answer right back in the bottom
half of the inning with three runs of their own when senior
centerfielder Chris Turco (Roswell,
GA) singled up the middle which scored teammates Robbie Parrish (Myrtle
Beach, SC) and Campbell.
In
the top of the eighth inning, Milligans Archer added an RBI
single to make the score 12-4. The Buffaloes were led by Archer (4-for-5 with 3 RBI and a
run scored), Shealy (3-for-5 with a run scored), and senior
catcher David Hilton (Gray, TN) went 2-for-5. The
Blue Hose were led by several players at the plate, Warren
(3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI), Hite (2-for-4 with 3
RBI and a run scored), Campbell (2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run
scored), Turco (1-for-4 with 2 RBI).
Presbyterian pounded out sixteen hits on the day. |
