BLUE HOSE BASEBALL FALLS TO MONTREAT 11-4

CLINTON, SC – The Presbyterian College baseball team lost to the Cavaliers of Montreat College 11-4 today in collegiate baseball action at the PC Baseball Complex.  Montreat evens their record at 2-2 while Presbyterian falls to 3-5 on the season.

Senior first baseman Thomas Reeder (Matthews, NC) accounted for the team first five runs Montreat scored with his two-RBI single to right in the first inning and his three-run homerun in the four.  The Cavaliers were had five players with at least two hits.  Leading the way for Montreat was Reeder (2-for-4, 5 RBI, 2 runs scored), senior right fielder Tony Peay (Rock Hill, SC) was 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, junior left fielder Chip Pennell (Black Mountain, SC) was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, junior catcher Peter Thompson (Charlotte, NC) was 2-for-4, and senior second baseman Chuckie Upshur (Delmar, MD) was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. 

For the Blue Hose, who salvaged four runs late in the game, senior centerfielder Chris Turco (Roswell, GA) was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.  Also leading the way for PC was junior first baseman Matt Warren (Lexington, SC) who went 2-for-5 with an RBI and junior catcher Dusty New (Abbeville, SC) who went 2-for-4. 

Recording the win for the Cavaliers was freshman Ben Truitt (Icard, NC) who dominated the Blue Hose by throwing seven plus inning while giving up three runs on nine hits and striking out six batters.  For the Blue Hose freshman Matt Boone (Kernersville, NC) gets the loss (0-1).  Boone went three and one-third innings giving up seven runs on eight hits and striking out three batters.
