HOSE SPLIT BASEBALL DOUBLEHEADER WITH CLINTON,
S.C. Presbyterian College (13-20) and West Virginia
State College (3-13) split a pair of games in collegiate
baseball action Wednesday afternoon at the PC Baseball
Complex. The Blue Hose prevailed 6-5 in the first game while
the Yellow Jackets won the second game 7-6. GAME #1 PRESBYTERIAN 6, WEST VIRGINIA STATE 5 PCs junior first baseman

Warren (Lexington, SC) went three-for-three with three
RBIs and a homerun and junior shortstop Davis
Rice (Clinton, SC) went two-for-two with three RBIs
to lead the Blue Hose to a 6-5 win. Sophomore Kevin
White (Spartanburg, SC) picked up his first win of the
season after going three innings allowing three earned runs on
six hits while striking out three Yellow Jacket batters. Warren led off the first
inning with a two-run homer in the first followed by a solo
homerun by Rice to give PC a early 3-0 lead. West Virginia
State cut the lead to 3-1 in the second on a wild pitch by the
Blue Hose. The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the third on
ground out RBI by senior shortstop Lee
May (Barboursville, WV) and a RBI-single by sophomore
designated hitter Dana Samples (S. Charelston, WV). In the bottom of the inning, Blue
Hose went ahead 5-3 on Warrens RBI-single followed by a
RBI-double by Rice. PC extended the lead to 6-3
in the fifth as Rice scored Warren on a sacrifice RBI. The
Yellow Jackets cut the lead to 6-5 in the sixth as sophomore
second baseman Andy Maught (Jefferson, MD) hit a two-run homer to open the inning.
WVSCs freshman pitcher Aaron
Kelly (Chapmanville, WV) took the loss after going six
innings allowing six earned runs on 10 hits. GAME #2 WEST VIRGINIA STATE 7, PRESBYTERIAN 6 West Virginia States

Pearce (Marion, IN) went two-for-five with three RBIs
and a homerun to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 7-6 win in game
#2. WVSC took an early 5-4 lead after the third inning thanks
in part to a two RBI-double and solo homerun by Pearce. PC
picked up runs on a fielders choice, a ground out RBI by

Gritter (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), an RBI-double by senior
outfielder Keagan
Broussard (Virginia Beach, VA) and a Yellow Jacket
error. The Yellow Jackets extended
their lead to 7-4 on a RBI-single by junior center fielder Jeffry Cadwallader (Littleton, CO) in the fifth and a solo homerun
by first baseman junior Tim
Schilling (St. Albans, WV) in the sixth. The Blue Hose cut the lead
to 7-6 with a pair of RBI-singles by junior second baseman Tombo Hite (Abbeville, SC) and
Warren in the sixth inning, but the comeback fell short. West Virginia States
junior John Stream (Santa
Clara, CA) picked up the win after going four and two-third
innings allowing four runs, two earned on seven hits. PCs
freshman Ryan
Jones (Lilburn, GA) took the loss after going one and
two-third innings allowing four runs, three earned on five
