FORMER BLUE HOSE RYAN KANE COMPETES WITH NATIONAL TEAM IN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

CLINTON, S.C. — Former Blue Hose standout Ryan Kane is currently competing with the USA National baseball team in Monterrey, Mexico in the American Championship Series.

Kane played at Presbyterian from 1994-95 and was a second team pre-season All-American in '94, only one of two Division II players selected, and was on the SAC All-Conference team in '95 along with PC's current assistant coach Elton Pollock.

Kane, a 6'4" 210 lbs third baseman, has played eight seasons of pro baseball and has spent the last two playing for the New Jersey Jackals.  In his first season with the Jackals Kane batted over .300 with 11 home runs and 58 RBI.  He also lead the Northern League in doubles and was MVP of the Northern League All-Star Game.  The Jackals have also won the Northern League Championships the past two years with the help of Kane.

Currently with the USA National team, Kane is batting .364 with three RBI, one double, and one run scored.  The USA is currently 4-1 after beating Aruba 3-1 Monday and played last night against a tough Mexico team.
