HOSE BASEBALL PLAYERS CONTINUE SOLID PLAY DURING SUMMER BALL CLINTON,
S.C. — Presbyterian College baseball players Matt Boone, Travis
Hill, Nick
Hoffner, Lance Howard, Kip
McAlister, and Zach
Matthews are enjoying a successful summer playing
baseball for various summer league teams. Boone, a 6-2, 215-pound
right-handed pitcher from Kernersville, N.C. is playing for
Kernersville and has a 1-3 record on the mound with a 6.39
ERA. The rising junior has pitched in 25.1 innings of work
while allowing 27 hits while striking out 27 batters. Hill, a 6-2, 185-pound
left-hander from Rock Hill, S.C. has posted a 1-3 mark on the
mound with a 3.29 ERA while playing for the Carolina Sox. The
rising redshirt senior has pitched in 24.1 innings of work
while allowing 20 hits and striking out 15 batters. Hoffner, a 6-1, 170-pound
outfielder from Ellicot City, Md. currently has a .311 batting
average with seven RBI while playing for the Carolina Sox. The
rising sophomore has played in 26 games with 19 hits and 12
runs scored including seven doubles in 61 at-bats to go along
with his .425 on-base percentage. Howard, a 6-0, 191-pound
outfielder from Simpsonville, S.C. currently has a .348
batting average with eight RBI while playing for the Carolina
Sox. The rising redshirt sophomore has played in 19 games with
14 hits including a pair of doubles in 46 at-bats to go along
with his .400 on-base percentage. McAlister, 6-1, 188-pound
infielder from Richburg, S.C. currently has a .253 batting
average with 12 RBI while playing for the Carolina Sox. The
rising junior has played in 30 games with 19 hits and 14 runs
scored including a pair of doubles in 75 at-bats to go along
with his .378 on-base
percentage and five stolen bases. Matthews, a 6-0, 181-pound
rising junior left-hander from Batesburg, S.C. was selected to
play in the Southern Collegiate League All-Star Game which was
played on July 21 at Duncan Park in Spartanburg, S.C. |
