OWLS ROLL OVER BLUE HOSE 12-2 IN BASEBALL ACTION CLINTON, S.C. – The
number one team in NCAA Division II baseball used two big
innings to defeat the Blue Hose 12-2 today at the PC Baseball
Complex. Kennesaw
State (9-0) cranked out 14 hits for 12 runs while limiting
Presbyterian’s (5-8) offense to only two runs off of four
hits the entire day. The Owls bats got warmed up
early in the first inning and with runners on the bases
freshman infielder Scott Hendrix (Cartersville, GA)
doubled down the left field line to score two.
Junior infielder Julius Thames (Marietta, GA)
knocked in Hendrix and junior infielder Scott Conway
(Mt. Laurel, NJ) to give KSU the 4-0 lead after one inning. In the fourth inning PC
junior outfielder Kevin
White (Spartanburg, SC) sent a shot over the right
field fence to cut the KSU lead to 4-1, but the Owls came
right back and put five runs on the board in the seventh
inning thanks in part to junior outfielder Clint Watters
(Rome, GA) three-run homerun.
The Blue Hose threatened in
the bottom of the seventh after senior short stop Davis
Rice (Clinton, SC) doubled down the right field line
and scored junior designated hitter Heath
McCuthceon (Newberry, SC).
With the bases loaded and two outs though, Owls
sophomore reliever Travis King (Marietta, GA) forced a
grounder to the second baseman to end the rally. KSU sophomore pitcher John
Robbins (Calhoun, GA) picked up his second win of the
season going five innings, scattering two hits, and striking
out two batters. PC
freshman pitcher Robert
Cole (Savannah, GA) took the loss after going five
innings allowing five runs off of 10 hits while striking out
five. |
