PC TOPS NORTH GREENVILLE 9-4 IN BASEBALL ACTION

CLINTON, S.C. –PC batters pounded out 10 hits and scored nine runs to defeat North Greenville College 9-4 Wednesday at the PC Baseball Complex. 

The Blue Hose (6-8) scored their first run in the second inning and went on to put three more on the board in the third inning.  In the third, junior outfielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) singled and was brought home on the next at bat when senior first baseman Matt Warren (Lexington, SC) homered to put the Blue Hose up 6-0.  Warren finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate and tallied three RBI while White went 2-for-6 with three runs scored. 

PC put two more on the board in the sixth and one more in the seventh to reach their largest lead of the game at 9-0.

North Greenville (1-10) fought back in the eighth inning and scored two runs off of a homerun by senior outfielder Matt Rollins (Taylors, SC).  The Crusaders rallied again in the ninth inning to score two and cut the Blue Hose lead to 9-4 before senior pitcher Davis Rice (Clinton, SC) closed out North Greenville.

Sophomore pitcher Jake Lunnen (Sylva, NC) picked up the win on the mound for PC and improves to 2-0 on the season.  Senior pitcher Joseph Bridges (Travelers Rest, SC) took the loss for North Greenville after going five and a third innings allowing five earned runs off of eight hits while striking out five batters.
