BLUE
HOSE FIND SWING AS THEY DEFEAT #19 USC AIKEN 14-8 CLINTON,
S.C. – PC’s
senior second baseman Tombo
Hite
(Abbeville, SC) delivered another stunning performance at
the plate with another perfect day going four for four to help
lead the Blue Hose over the Pacers 14-8. Since
being back in the friendly confines of the PC Baseball Complex
Hite has hit a perfect nine-for-nine with 11 total bases in
the last two games. Today
he was a single away from hitting for the cycle after leading
off the game with a triple, blasting a homerun in the second
inning, and legging out a single in the seventh inning. The
Blue Hose (2-3) put two on the board to begin the first inning
with four hits and another three runs in the second inning to
go ahead 5-1. In
the fourth inning the Blue Hose put five on the board and
knocked the cover off the ball with two outs in the inning.
Junior center fielder Kevin
White (Spartanburg, SC) hit a three-run homer and
junior right fielder Joseph Bishop
(Greenwood, SC) knocked two more in on a single. USC
Aiken (4-3) put five on the board in the final two innings and
were led by senior second baseman Demetrick Drumming
(Aiken, SC) who went two-for-five with a single and
a homerun to leftfield. The
Pacers used six pitchers on the day allowing 14 runs on 18
hits while striking out two batters. On
the mound the Blue Hose were led by senior right hander Richard
Barkley (Sumter, SC) who went seven innings allowing
only seven hits and striking seven batters. |
