Sunday, February 23, 2003 BLUE HOSE BASEBALL FALLS TO #17 BLAZERS 5-3 LAKELAND, FL - The Blue Hose dropped their third straight game in as many days to the Valdosta State University Blazers (12-1), the #17 team in the country, and fall to 5-7 on the season after a disappointing road trip to Florida. The game started off well for the Blue Hose as they put two on the board in the first and junior centerfielder Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) knocked a solo homerun in the third inning, but that was the only offense PC could muster the entire day. The Blazers junior pitcher Jacques Wattecamps (Smyrna, GA) scattered eight hits and struck out five going the distance while Blue Hose senior pitcher Davis Rice (Clinton, SC) took the loss after going eight innings and allowing four earned runs off of 10 hits while striking out five. Valdosta State will be back in action this Wednesday against Georgia College and State University at 4:00 pm while the Blue Hose will take on #1 Kennesaw State University at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the PC Baseball Complex. |
