TROJANS SCORE SIX IN LAST TWO INNINGS TO 
DEFEAT BLUE HOSE 14-8

CLINTON, SC – Anderson College scored six runs over the final two inning to break a tie ballgame and take a 14-8 victory over Presbyterian College in non-conference baseball action Sunday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex.

After giving up six early runs, the Blue Hose (3-12) rallied for four runs in the fifth and eventually tied up the score at eight with four runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Evan Sowell (Chesterfield, SC) led off with an infield single and went to third when Clay Belton (Ridgeway, SC) doubled. Andrew Cockerham (Millers Creek, NC) then hit a fly ball to right that scored Sowell. After Robert Rodebaugh (Marietta, GA) walked, Lance Howard (Simpsonville, SC) doubled down the right field line. Howard later scored the tying run on a triple by Jake Lunnen (Sylva, NC).

Anderson (6-10) answered with four runs of their own in the top of the eighth.

With one out, Caleb Owen (Westminster, SC) walked and eventually came around to score on three straight hit batsmen. F.A. Vildosola (Pembroke Pines, FL) then reached on an error that allowed Donavon Schmidt (Hilton Head, SC) and Jacob Reid (Georgetown, SC) to score. Jonathan Pitts (Easley, SC) then hit a groundball to third that scored Clint Neville (McDonough, GA).

The Trojans added two more in the ninth to set the final margin.

Reid led Anderson at the plate with four hits, while Owen, Schmidt, and Neville all had two. Sowell led PC at the plate with four hits. Belton finished with two hits for the Blue Hose.

Will Cheatham (Lexington, SC) picked up the win on the mound for Anderson, while Zach Matthews took the loss for PC.

PC will be back in action Tuesday as they host Lander University in a single game beginning at 2:30 pm. Anderson will take the field again Tuesday as they travel to Erskine for a game at 2:30 pm.
