BLUE HOSE NAMED ELTON POLLOCK AS NEW HEAD BASEBALL COACH
Former two-sport standout to take over baseball program

CLINTON, S.C. - Elton Pollock, a 1995 graduate of Presbyterian College, has been named the new head coach for the Presbyterian College baseball program announced today by Director of Athletics Bee Carlton.

Pollock replaces former head coach Doug Kovash who resigned after 11 seasons to take position at NCAA Division I Birmingham Southern College. Pollock has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Blue Hose baseball program including this past season as a volunteer assistant coach. He is also the owner of the Diamond League, Inc. (professional indoor training center) in Lauren, S.C.

“I am extremely pleased that we are able to add Elton Pollock to our staff,” said Carlton. “Elton brings to the position a thorough familiarity with the program's history, players and alumni. He has impeccable character and leadership skills. He will bring immediate energy and excitement to the baseball team. Elton is a proven winner as a player and has unlimited potential as a head coach. He understands the academic and athletic demands of PC and will be able to recruit talented student-athletes to fit the program. He is a perfect fit for the team, our staff, and for PC at this time. I can’t wait for him to get started.”

Pollock, a former two-sport standout at Presbyterian College from 1992-95, returned to his alma mater in 2002 after spending seven years in the business world, most recently with WorldCom in Cary, N.C. Prior to his stint WorldCom, he worked with Delta Airlines and was a loan officer at Allison Mortgage and Palmetto Funding Group.

“The opportunity to return to my alma mater as head baseball coach has created an enthusiasm for me that cannot be described with words,” said Pollock. “I am truly looking forward to what the future holds for PC baseball.”

Pollock earned a bachelors of science degree in Sociology while minoring in Computer Science from Presbyterian College in 1995. During his time at PC, he was a three-year letterwinner with the football team and a four-year letterwinner with the baseball team. Pollock finished an impressive baseball career at PC’s as the program’s career leader in homeruns (34) while ranking second in slugging percentage (.616) and triples (11), third in total bases (382), tied for fourth in runs scored (169), and fifth in batting average (.348).

Following graduation, Pollock was drafted in the 15th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He spent three years in their minor league system before retiring in 1997.

Pollock is married to the former Karen Prioleau of Greenville, S.C. and the couple have two children. The Pollock family lives in Laurens, S.C.
