Robinson,
a 6-0, 165-pound freshman outfielder from Mt. Pleasant, S.C.,
led the SAC Tournament with a .556 batting average in four
games. He added 10 hits, five runs scored, and two RBI to go
along with a pair of doubles. Robinson also compiled a .667
slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage. Tusculum College catcher Adam
Beacham, who hit .500 with four home runs and 12 RBI, was
named Most Valuable Player of the 2005 Food Lion South
Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament. Beacham, whose hits
included an inside-the-park homer, was one of seven Pioneers
named to the All-Tournament Team. Also making All-Tournament from Tusculum are Skip Talarek, Greg Stotser,
Matt Riggs, Chap Morris, Kenny Reed and
Kenny Lewis.
Stotser hit .542 with eight RBI, Riggs hit .500 with nine RBI,
Talarek hit .478 with 11 RBI and Reed hit .406 with a home run
and nine RBI, including a three-run homer in the first
championship game against Carson-Newman. Morris and Lewis each
picked up a win on the mound for the Pioneers. Runner-up Carson-Newman had six on the All-Tournament team: Kyle
Beall, Derrick Calkin, Bryce Thomas,
John Wallace, Nathan Gravley and Adam
Kefauver. Beall hit .500 with seven RBI. Thomas and
Kefauver also hit .500, while Gravley hit .458 with four RBI.
Calkin and Wallace both threw complete game shutouts for the
Eagles. Catawba’s
Jeff Abdelnour round out the All-Tournament team who threw a
complete six-hit game against Wingate. |
