FORMER BLUE HOSE WHITE SELECTED TO PLAY IN FRONTIER LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME

CLINTON, SC — Former Presbyterian College baseball standout Kevin White (Spartanburg, SC) has been selected to play in the 13th Annual Frontier League All-Star Game announced today by league officials.

The annual All-Star Game will be played at Falconi Field in Washington, Pa., presented by United States Steel, on Wednesday July 13, 2005 at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The All-Star Game will be televised by Fox Sports Pittsburgh and will air on Thursday, July 14th at 7:00 P.M. The Division that wins the All-Star Game will earn home-field advantage in the Frontier League Championship Series in September.

White will be a member of the East Division All-Star team as the starting designated hitter. He is one of four players from the Richmond Roosters (IN) organization (18-26) that were named to the All-Star Game.

The 2004 Frontier League “Rookie of the Year” has already set career high for doubles (14) this season. He has 36 RBI, one shy of his career high of 37 that he had last year in his rookie season. White is batting .301 at the plate while his .542 slugging percentage is third best on the Roosters. He has 12 multi-hit games this season.

White had three hits in six at-bats, including the game-tying home run in the tenth inning against Rockford on June 16. He had three hits, a homerun and three RBI in his first start of the season against Florence on May 27. The right fielder drove in three runs in 14-12 win over Windy City on June 21.

White, a native of Spartanburg, S.C. (Spartanburg HS), finished his four-year career at PC as arguably most decorated player in Blue Hose history. As a senior, he led the team in every statistical category while on the mound, he led the team with seven victories. White was selected the 2004 South Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Year, 1st Team All-SAC  (outfielder), 2nd Team All-SAC (pitcher), first team ABCA All-Region honors and was named a second team ABCA All-American. For his career, White is the program’s first two-time ABCA All-American (2002 & 2004) selection and three-time ABCA All-Region selection.

He ranks first in Blue Hose program career history in batting average (.384), hits (321), runs scored (212), doubles (60), triples (13), homeruns (47), RBI (216), total bases (548), and slugging percentage (.656). He also ranks among the nation’s best in NCAA Division II career statistics. He ranks second in total bases (548), 5th in career hits (321), and tied for 15th in both runs scored (212) and RBI (216).
